For the past few years, I’ve been lamenting the state of Biblical understanding and application in evangelical Bible study, especially that which is marketed to women. Some of what I’ve seen being offered in Christian bookstores is pretty scary. I’ve been wondering what I can do about the situation. I’ve been wondering, “How can I help?” The best answer I’ve come up with so far is sharing knowledge. Along those lines, I want to make an offering to the readers of my blog in Bartow County.
I’ll buy you a copy Grasping God’s Word.*
Grasping God’s Word is a hermeneutics textbook. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, “hermeneutics” is just a three-dollar term for the discipline of interpreting a text. Grasping God’s Word is intended to help readers understand how to understand the biblical text. This particular book is not overly complicated. Almost anyone, with no formal background, can use it to learn about the Bible.
If you’d like to take me up on my offer, send you name, address, and church membership information to geoffrey_dunn@yahoo.com
*Limit one per local church. If I’ve already purchased one for someone at your local church, you’ll have to borrow it from him or her (or just buy your own copy). My budget is limited in time and volume. I can only give away one book per week; you may have to wait for your copy if someone else makes a request before you do.
